To norske ekspedisjoner i fjellmassivet Trango regnes som milepæler i internasjonal klatrehistorie. I kinodokumentaren Trango åpner klatrerne for første gang opp om de ekstreme opplevelsene.
Inspirert av en av de største prestasjonene i klatrehistorien legger den legendariske klatreren Robert Caspersen og hans team ut på et eventyr til Himalaya med en drøm om å være de første til å bestige en av verdens høyeste klipper, Trango Pulpit. Den norske ekspedisjonen i 1984 var banebrytende – en milepæl i internasjonal klatrehistorie – men hadde også en mørk bakside som skulle prege hele klatremiljøet. Trango skildrer to ekspedisjoner med 15 års mellomrom, de ekstreme risikoene, personlige ofrene og den livslange jakten på å oppnå umulige drømmer i verdens mest brutale fjellterreng.
